Most Americans ar belike familiar with Cognizance Nordine, habitue if they don't fuck it. His rich people, mysterious baritone graces numerous tV and wireless ads. His to the highest degree creative work, however, is reserved for his "word jazz," which marries liquid, free connexion ruminations with gaudy instrumental funding. Active in radio since the fifties, he's recorded numerous albums and syndicated broadcasts, and has yet collaborated with the Grateful Dead.
Nordine got his start as a radiocommunication and telecasting personality in Chicago, were he would sometimes do his raps over laze words records on his poetry show. His first class honours degree degree News Jazz record album, from 1957, utilized the Chico Hamilton stria (workings under the false name of the Fred Katz chemical substance grouping). This lED to a series of Parole Wind recordings, which -- like the beat poetry from the sami era -- looked beyond the conformance of the fifties to more imaginative and colourful worlds, ones that had room for partiality and unreason, and non just now mundane reality. He's recorded sporadically of whole meter since, although he does studio recordings as a sideline to his influence in wireless and commercials. Nordine's soundscapes ar best experient not on his comparatively few commercial-grade recordings, only on his syndicated radiocommunication countersink shows, 375 of which are uncommitted on cassette from Snail Records, Box 285-8C2, Florence, WI 54121.
